Beautiful highly adaptable, low maintenance shrub that will grow in a variety of conditions, though it will really thrive in full sun (6+ hours) and medium-wet well-drained soil. This plant has high wildlife value, acting as a host plant for approximately 30 species of Lepidoptera (moths and butterflies) and offering nutritious fruits for birds and mammals. Leaves turn a beautiful crimson red in fall.

Berries are edible to humans and are one of the highest sources of anthocyanins (anti-inflammatory, antimutagenic, antioxidative).
